Iowa City Engagement Photos

This weekend I headed out to Iowa City to spend some time with Rae and Brandon. We met up at Joe’s Place, coincidentally where several of their first dates took place. From there, we wandered around downtown Iowa City and found several beautiful and unexpected locations for photos. A lot of photographers tend to have their favorite locations to photograph engagement sessions. However, I love the process of exploring while on an engagement session. It challenges me to see light in the moment and look at potential compositions in real time. I feel this also helps to make sure that my couples have a unique experience with one of a kind images created specifically for them at their session.

Rae and Brandon were absolutely naturals in front of the camera and it shows. They were also up for wandering to find the best Iowa City engagement photos while we were chatting and while I was finding the best light and compositions. These types of engagement sessions are my absolute favorite! Rae and Brandon were such a great time and I can’t wait for their wedding in the fall at Celebration Farm!
