What I love about photographing weddings at River Center:
The River Center has very unique characteristics that make it unlike any other venue in Des Moines, the roof is rounded and makes for a cool photo background. The stairs are usually where you will have the ceremony and can be photographed from upstairs or down and there are also two main spaces on the first floor for receptions which gives you a nice variety of options to mix and match for your wedding day!

Upstairs
The upstairs has two bridal suites (one on each side of the venue) as well as large open spaces that can act as cocktail hour spaces or overflow dinner spaces. The north side has a beautiful balcony that overlooks the ceremony space as well!
Downstairs
The downstairs spaces are where most of your ceremonies and receptions will take place. Complete with bistro lights, chandeliers and beautiful exposed brick, there is a ton of character in these spaces..
Outside
There are two patios at the River Center, also with bistro lights which makes for a fun photo op. There are some cool industrial vibe spots around the venue to walk and take portraits at, or you can hop on the River Center Trolley and we can head downtown for portrait time. The River Center Trolley is not only a great convenience, but is a photo op in it’s own right!
