I love photographing couples at the Des Moines Botanical Garden because of the unique backdrops it presents. There are unique plants and flowers all over this venue, making it absolutely beautiful while not knowing exactly where in the world you’re located. The dome is a built-in rain plan, making wedding planning a bit less stressful. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces to utilize for both the ceremony and reception. Did someone say garden party? This is the perfect venue for a garden party themed wedding!

The Dome
Rain or shine, you’ll leave the Dome with stunning wedding photos. The dome is where a lot of couples hold their ceremony as well. Your guests can be surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful plants as you say your ‘I dos.’
The Path
At the back of the venue, there is a long walking path that will strike any photographer’s eye. The leading lines of the path and trees makes this a perfect spot for wedding photos. I’ve even had one couple set their ceremony up at the end of this path which was so cool and aesthetic!
The Garden
Outside of the dome is a massive garden area with plants and a cool water feature. You can have your ceremony out here. You can also great an outdoor dinner reception out here, which is so fun to have dinner and dancing under the stars. Aside from ceremonies and receptions, the garden has plenty of spots for first looks and portraits as well..
